The Spirit of Hopkinton - Go Green!

June 2008 - The Year in Review

Dear Families:

It is hard to believe the school year has flown by so quickly! In this year-end issue of The Runner, we will take a look back at the highlights of this year, and give you a sneak preview of some upcoming events. Enjoy!

This year, the HPTA was able to provide:

  • more than 30 enrichment programs across the entire school district
  • dozens of extracurricular programs, which educated and entertained over 1000 students across the three sessions
  • Multiple programs for parents, many in cooperation with other local organizations
  • $12,000 in direct classroom material support
  • $6,000 in support of the school district’s Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum work through our contribution toward Professional Development
  • Approximately $17,000 in technology support across all schools.
  • $2000 in scholarships to HHS seniors.

With your support, this year the HPTA will again be able to offer a budget in excess of $130,000 which will all be spent on next year’s programs. We thank you for your generous donations of time and money. We thank the hundreds of volunteers who worked diligently to raise funds, coordinate programs, and enrich the educational experience of all of our children.

As I prepare to retire as HPTA President, I would like to assure you that I leave the organization in excellent hands. Our 2008-2009 Co-Presidents Judy Lankford and Patty Doshier are dedicated, intelligent, creative women who are already hard at work planning another wonderful year of support for our students. I have every confidence that they will work very well together and do an excellent job providing leadership for this organization. I would like to thank the many board members and parents who have supported me for the last three years. And, most importantly, I would like to thank my husband and our four children for their patience, assistance and support – it has truly been a family effort.

Have a healthy and relaxing summer!

Jean Bertschmann
HPTA President
