Our goal is to provide the resources needed from the preschool age child to the high school graduate and beyond. We assist families in reaching supports of all types. Information Sources: Written: Backpack flyers and notices: Usually sent home on Fridays Backpacked items at the Middle and High Schools are not as frequent as at the elementary schools. For Kindergarten through 6 th grade, the HTPA usually sends home notices in backpacks. For 7 th through 12 th grade, flyers and notices are mailed, although not frequently. Flyers and notices are also available at the magazine racks at the entrances to several of the buildings. The Runner: Pre-K through 12 th grade bi-monthly newsletter is mailed home, one per family. Principal's letters/memos: Issued periodically and come home in backpacks. Superintendent's office newsletters and memos: Issued periodically and come home in backpacks. School Handbooks: The Source Book has District and HPTA calendars, information and key contacts. It is mailed home annually prior to the start of the school year. This is also available on the District Webpage. School-specific handbooks are in the school agendas supplied by several of the schools to each student. Interim Progress Reports & Report Cards: Sent home with your child. The distribution dates are listed in the Source Book . Contact your child's teacher with any questions. For Middle and High School students, parents should create an IPASS account (via the school website homepage) and check grades online. Reports, Minutes and Plans: The Hopkinton School District 's Strategic Plan, School Committee meeting minutes, school improvement plans and School Council minutes are available in the Superintendent's office. Many are also available on the District webpage. Local Media: Hopkinton Independent, Hopkinton Crier, MetroWest Daily News, Hopnews.com Routine Meetings: Parent/Principal Meetings: A Principal or guidance counselor hosts informal coffees (group meetings). These provide a chance to ask questions and gather information. Check the calendar in your Source Book and look for flyers during the year. HPTA Meetings: General Meetings are held periodically during the year. The dates are in the Source Book and available on the website. Flyers will be sent home. Please attend. Parent Education Programs: HPTA-sponsored programs are planned throughout the year, some with outside sources, to help us stay informed about issues facing children and parents. Many are listed in the Source Book, and updates are available on the website, and through backpack flyers. School Committee Meetings: The School Committee meets the first and third Thursdays of the month at 7:30 PM in the Middle School Library. These meetings are televised on HCAM TV, Channel 8. Electronic Media: Hopkinton Schools Website (www.hopkinton.k12.ma.us): The site provides links to each school, the District Administration page, the School Committee page and the HPTA page, as well as links to other organizations which directly support the district. Each link provides information and email addresses for contacting teachers, principals and school administrators. Many teachers also have homework and classroom web sites. ListServ ( http://www.hopkinton.k12.ma.us/newweb2/administration/listservs/listserv.php ): Sign up to receive e-mails from your children's schools, or from the district. HPTA Website (www.hopkinton.k12.ma.us/hpta): The site provides information on the opportunities provided by the HPTA as well as contact information for all of the school-based HPTA Boards and the town-wide Board. iPASS (ipass.hopkinton.k12.ma.us/school/ipass/syslogin.html): The site provides parents access to their child's historical student information such as attendance record and test scores. This is currently only available for High School and Middle School students. To sign up, visit the site and apply for a password. www.schoolnotes.com: This site contains homework assignments for Middle and High School students. HPTA E-mail: Members of the HPTA can sign up to be part of the e-mail service to receive updates of HPTA events, programs, activities and issues related to education. Middle School eNews (www.eNewsbyHPTA.org): An e-mail service delivers updates of Middle School events, programs, activities and issues related to the Middle School. You do not have to be an HPTA member to subscribe. HopNews (www.hopnews.com): HopNews is a local electronic newspaper which has many updates about school events and schedules. EducateHopkinton (www.educatehopkinton.com): Educate Hopkinton's goal is to keep people up-to-date on the budget process and the Town's financial needs. Includes Town Meeting and Voter Information as well as many helpful links. Cable: Channel 8- programs (e.g., School Committee meetings), Hopkinton announcements/Community Bulletin Board (includes some school information) Channel 10 - school announcements Other: Town Library: The library has copies of the School Committee's Strategic Plan for the Schools, Annual Report for the schools, The Runner, town studies, etc. It sometimes has signup/registration forms for various groups.
