Hopkins School Volunteer Opportunities

  • Runner Reporters Cover various events at Hopkins School. Provide photos and write short articles on the event.
  • Junior Achievement The curriculum and one hour training is provided by Junior Achievement. Session times can be flexible to work around your schedule. Bring your business and real life experiences to the classroom. A wonderful opportunity for working or non-working parents to volunteer (Five 45-minute classroom sessions)
  • 4th/5th Grade Memory Book Volunteers needed on an ongoing basis to assist with the production of the memory book which will be available at the end of the school year. Please check area of interest:  ____Cover Contest  ____Typing  _____ Photography  ____Layout  ____Editing  _____ Distribution
  • Library Assist Librarian with shelving books and general help during school hours.
  • Computer Lab Assist students during their Computer Lab period. No special experience needed
  • Funding Factory Volunteer needed to coordinate Hopkins' Ink Jet Recycling program. Responsible for advertising program via flyers and school newsletters, checking drop boxes, packaging and sending cartridges into the recycling center, and tracking financial rewards returned to the school. Flexible schedule, year long commitment.
  • Enrichment Events Individuals who can be called upon on an as needed basis to assist in special academic events in the classroom.
  • Office Help Assist Office Secretaries with photocopying as needed.
  • Parent/Teacher Education New program providing a venue for discussion between parents and teachers. ______Copy  _____Refreshments
  • Nurse's Office Assist Nurse with hearing/vision screening testing. Please indicate prior experience:
  • 4Th Grade Immigration Day Students will reenact the arrival of immigrants to Ellis Island. Many volunteers are needed to help plan and coordinate this event.
  • Staff Appreciation Provide baked goods, salads, and desserts for various staff recognition events throughout the school year.
  • 4th Grade Field Day, June 12, 2008 Help run field day events that have been organized by PE teachers.
  • 5th Grade Field Day, June 13, 2008 Help run field day events that have been organized by PE teachers.
